Save with these energy conservation tips

With kids going back to school or resuming remote learning, the activity in your house is sure to change. There will be homework to do, lunches to make, and snacks… so many snacks to consume. Changes at home can mean changes in your energy consumption. Start the school year off smart with these tips:

Adjust your thermostat to 78° or higher. While away from home, set it even higher (80-83° F).
Check air filters monthly and change when dirty.
Have your central heating and cooling system serviced annually by a professional.
Caulk, seal and weather-strip around windows and doors.
Replace old incandescent bulbs with ENERGY STAR® certified LEDs.
Install advanced power strips, which include built-in features that significantly reduce the amount of energy used by your home office and entertainment center devices when not in use.

The Dominion Energy virtual Careers in Energy Diversity Student Conference is taking place Oct. 5-7.

Qualified students must apply by Aug. 31.

This event is a great opportunity to learn what a career in the energy world would look like and to learn more about Dominion Energy. Selected students are guaranteed an interview for a 2022 full-time paid summer internship. Hired interns may be eligible to apply for a $5,000 scholarship.

The application period is now open for the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation’s Environmental Education and Stewardship grants program. Eligible organizations include nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations and public and private K-12 schools in communities served by Dominion Energy companies. The application period ends Sept. 30 at 5 p.m.
