Dominion Energy has joined with the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) to launch the Building Hispanic Talent Initiative. This $2 million-dollar three-year initiative will develop Hispanic leaders in the clean/renewable energy industry.

The idea for this initiative began in 2020 when Dominion Energy identified a need to increase the number of Hispanic employees in the energy sector workforce. Believing “actions speak louder,” we got to work to create opportunities for Hispanic students to learn more about energy careers.

The Building Hispanic Talent Initiative will provide funding to participating post-secondary institutions to work with HACU to implement a Summer Bridge program for pre-college students. It will offer a seven-week educational opportunity for up to 60 high school students (9^th-12^th grade) at each participating institution, impacting more than 1,250 students and their families.

In addition to promoting careers in energy, the initiative will also allow students to experience life on a university campus. Each student will receive credit in college-level courses in engineering, business, cybertechnology and biotechnology.

This initiative builds on our Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Promise Initiative, which committed $25 million to support 11 HBCUs over six years. Programs such as these will allow us to continue building the world class workforce required to fulfill our vision to become the most sustainable energy company in America.
