North Carolina employees give back
Employees put their energy to work for the communities they serve
This article is about:
How employees from Asheville to Gastonia to Raleigh fulfilled a charge for employees at every company location to engage in a volunteer activity.Dominion Energy’s natural gas utility employees in North Carolina have spent the spring and summer giving back as part of a charge for employees at every company location to engage in at least one volunteer activity.
Employees from Asheville to Gastonia to Raleigh delivered on that challenge for the benefit of the communities they serve. Employees were active serving the community in new ways and building on old partnerships all while continuing to provide safe and reliable natural gas service for customers.
“The Asheville region employees chose to support Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity again this year. For example, most of the routes we run for Meals on Wheels are in areas we serve, and a lot of the stops are current customers. That really makes our employees appreciate the opportunity to help,” said Mark Hannah regional manager of gas operations in the Asheville region.
Benefiting organizations include Meals on Wheels, Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, the Durham Fire Department, Urban Ministries of Durham, the Masonic Home for Children, Holy Angels, Habitat for Humanity, Military Missions in Action, among others.
“Hundreds of thousands of people in our service territory struggle to access nutritious and adequate food necessary for a healthy life,” said regional manager of gas operations for the Raleigh region, Curtis Rice. “We joined The Food Bank of Central North Carolina and asked employees to donate nonperishable food, hygiene, and household items as well as volunteer at their Raleigh location for food supply preparation. Stories from those who have been helped by this operation are the reason these community service events are so important to us.”
Gastonia employees raised funds and volunteer for Holy Angels, an organization based in Belmont that supports the differently able.
