At Dominion Energy, we’re grateful to our nation’s military and proud to count many active and retired service members among our ranks. Our workforce includes veterans in all areas of our company, working together to fulfill our mission: delivering clean, reliable, affordable energy; protecting the environment; serving our customers and communities; empowering our people; creating shareholder value.
From the front lines to the home front, we’re committed to supporting our military hires through all stages of their careers.
Whether we’re offering support to an employee on active military deployment, or recruiting a skilled veteran onto our team, we’re proud to say that we’ve always got the backs of our nation’s military members. We value the skills our veterans bring to the company, from diligence and safety awareness to an aptitude for leading diverse groups. In fact, one out of every five new hires at Dominion Energy is a veteran.
Our commitment extends beyond hiring for our own company – we partnered in 2011 to launch a pilot program, Troops to Energy Jobs, to help veterans transition from military life into private-sector jobs within the energy industry. This program lets them translate their hard-earned military skillsets into rewarding civilian careers in everything from utility to engineering. The Troops to Energy Jobs program now works with companies to honor our nation’s veterans by connecting them with careers, training and job support.
Whether a Dominion Energy employee is a veteran, or an active member of the National Guard or Reserves – once they’re part of the Dominion Energy family, we’re there to offer support with an array of benefits and resources to help them and their families, including:
These programs and resources let our military team members know how much we value their service, and how – even in civilian life – someone’s always looking out for them.
Our veteran support extends out into the communities our employees call home as well, with programs designed to help local veterans and their families to overcome common challenges and thrive in civilian life.
We offer volunteer opportunities that see our team members providing much-needed assistance to veterans in their own communities by performing home energy efficiency upgrades, home repairs, and projects like installing access ramps.
Dominion Energy grants, programs, and volunteers also facilitate important recreation-based programs for veterans, intended to encourage community engagement and to build and support social relationships. Activities like fishing, boating, art classes, guitar lessons, and horseback riding may seem like mere hobbies, but can become important social bridges for the veteran community.
That community, along with the employee service members working beside us every day on the front lines of reliable energy, has earned the gratitude of our nation and of our company.
