The new transmission lines will run from an existing transmission line along Batna Road to the proposed Germanna Substation. The approved transmission line route can be viewed on our Maps page.

An application for this project was filed with the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) in November 2023. The SCC issued its Final Order approving the project on August 7, 2024. Please see the legal page for the final approval document and additional details.

  • Late Summer 2023 – Public engagement commences and project mailers sent
  • October 17, 2023 – Public community meeting
  • November 20, 2023 – Filed Application with the Virginia State Corporation Commission
  • August 2024 – SCC Final order approval received
  • Winter/Spring 2025 – ROW clearing and T line construction begins
  • Summer 2025 – Substation construction scheduled to begin
  • Fall 2025 – Real Estate and survey processes ongoing
  • Summer 2026 – Projected energization of new transmission line and Germanna Substation
