Project Overview

The purpose of this project is to connect the Macadamia Solar generation facility in Washington County, North Carolina, to the electric transmission grid while maintaining reliable grid operation. There are three main components of this project:

1. Expand Trowbridge Substation in Washington County.
2. Expand right of way corridor by 20 feet and rebuild a 1.5-mile section of Line 25 in Martin and Washington counties.
3. Rebuild 20 miles of Line 218 in Martin and Pitt counties from Everetts Substation to our interconnection with Duke Energy in Greenville.

  • March 2024 – Project announcement mailed to neighbors
  • Spring 2024 – Project kickoff, engineering, and permitting
  • Late 2025 – Forestry activities begin on Line 218
  • Early 2026 – Begin Line 218 rebuild access installation and construction from Everetts Substation to Greenville Interconnection
  • Summer 2026 – Begin Line 25 partial rebuild and Trowbridge Substation construction
  • Early 2028 – Construction complete
